Physiohealth involvement with Australia East African Running Academy (AEARA)

Cory has recently been helping out athletes and coaches involved with the Australia East African Running Academy (AEARA).  A group of young Ethiopian orphans and refugees from Mount Alexander College are being assisted by founder Tony Benson and fellow Endurance Performance Systems (EPS) triathlon coach Barb Augustin. The young athletes sparked some interest with excellent performances in the recent district and regional secondary school athletics carnivals despite inexperience in the events.  They had only a brief period of training prior to the competition and battled on though some niggling injuries to progress through to the next round of competition. Cory has volunteered to help them out with these niggling injuries and also recently attended a training session to meet the rest of the squad.  There he conducted a musculoskeletal assessment on the group to identify any weaknesses that may predispose athletes to injuries in an attempt to prevent any further issues arising and keep them on the track training hard. For more info about the AEARA visit their website or Facebook page. 20140918_145256
